What is EV and IV

i've never heard of the two before i joined this forum so what are they and how do i know what they are for each of my pokemon

i know this looks complicated, but there's just no easier way to explain it all.

incase you havent figured this out after reading all that, there is no actual way in the game where you can see the IVs or EVs, but if you follow the above instructions, you'll figure out how to calculate them yourself.
